Your Pet’s Been Sprayed By A Skunk – Now What??

When Skunked – Keep Your Pet Outdoors (the oils in the skunk spray can be difficult to clean out of upholstery fabrics and rugs).

First, gather together the following Ingredients and follow these Six Easy Steps:

• Quart of Fresh 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
• 1/4 Cup Baking Soda
• 2 tsp. Dawn Dishwashing Liquid, or similar brand
• Pet Shampoo
• Warm Water
• Rubber Gloves

If your pet was sprayed in the face, begin by gently rinsing their eyes. with cool water to remove most of the heavy excretion.

Mix the Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, and Dishwashing Liquid in a bucket or bowl.

While wearing the rubber gloves lather the mixture throughout the skunked area on your pet.

Being careful to avoid the eyes, rinse thoroughly with warm water after about five minutes of rubbing in the lather.

Next, wash your pet thoroughly with a pet shampoo.

Towel dry your pet and let them finish drying in the sun or in a warm area of the house.
